Sofia’s Journey

Sofía graduated from Macris School in Tegucigalpa, where she served as STUCO President and Interact Club President under Rotary International District 1540. She earned a full scholarship to complete the International Foundation Program at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), later completing a dual degree in Political Science and International Political Economy from UC3M and Purdue University. At UC3M, she was elected President of the Social Sciences Faculty and conducted research in collaboration with Boston University, exploring Spain's refugee integration policies through qualitative interviews with government officials.

As the only Latina and Honduran in her Political Science graduating class at UC3M, Sofía gained a deep appreciation for diversity and representation in global academic spaces. Her academic and professional path reflects a strong commitment to excellence, equity, and resilience—values she brings to every student she mentors.
