Gaby’s Journey

Gaby is a first-generation, international student from Honduras. She began her education at the American School of Tegucigalpa (AST) and later pursued a dual degree in Economics and Political Science at Emory University. Currently, she is an MBA Candidate at the Freeman School of Business and a JD Candidate at Tulane Law School.

Her journey has been shaped by a strong commitment to community and equity. As a first-gen Latina, Gaby brings a mission-driven lens to everything she does—grounded in lived experience and a deep desire to create pathways for others like her.

Professional Experiences

At Emory Impact Investing Group (EIIG)—a student-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit that offers pro bono consulting and 0% interest microloans to under-resourced entrepreneurs in Atlanta—Gaby led and contributed in several key roles:

  • Led People Strategy: Oversaw the talent and internal development functions of one of the first undergraduate-led impact investing groups in the Southeast, focused on supporting Atlanta-based entrepreneurs.

  • Designed Systems for Long-Term Impact: Restructured internal team roles and the recruitment pipeline to ensure sustainability and institutional knowledge retention as the organization scaled.

  • Built Inclusive Hiring and Retention Practices: Created more inclusive selection processes and mentorship systems to support diverse team members through their first consulting cycles.

  • Supported Portfolio Growth: Contributed to executive strategy for loan portfolios and repayment scheduling, aligning talent development with client engagement.

  • Mission-Driven Leadership: Applied a community-focused, equity-driven approach to organizational planning, drawing on her background and values as a first-gen international student.
